Chiemela Obi Nwagbara is a seasoned risk professional within the financial services industry. He holds a master’s degree in Financial Services Risk & Operations and is a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (FCISI). His work experience spans the retail, commercial, and investment banking sectors. Over the last 15 years, he has dedicated working only in risk and compliance roles within the UK’s financial services industry. Since joining Lloyds Banking Group in 2013, Chiemela has supported the group’s risk management and control frameworks in different capacities. In his current role as the corporate assurance manager, he is responsible for leading and implementing risk management strategies within corporate sales, conducting comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential risks and developing strategies to mitigate them, and providing governance and oversight for risk management activities across the business. Chiemela is an ardent supporter of Black and Ethnic minority-inspired programs, believing in the power of unity and the strength that comes from our diverse backgrounds, and serves as a Chief within the Igbo Community in Scotland. In his personal life, Chiemela loves to travel, takes part in the occasional 5-a-side football games, and has a passion for fast cars.
